Santa Anita Opening Day Selections (12-26-15)

It is Opening Day at the Great Race Place! Santa Anita Opening Day is always one of the best racing days of the year.  So, to help you with your tickets for this huge day, I have full card selections, highlighting my top 3 horses in every race, as well as my best horse and longshot of the day.

Race 1: 5-3-7
Race 2: 9-12-3
Race 3: 11-6-1
Race 4: 9-12-13
Race 5: 6-10-4
Race 6: 10-9-6
Race 7: 3-6-2
Race 8: 5-1-7
Race 9: 10-5-4

Best Horse of the Day (Race 9): 10 – Unusually Green
-This horse is anything but green.  Just getting closer and closer to a win at this level in his last four, he has just not been able to get home first on these turf route lately.  However, he gets a softer field in this one and is shortening up.  If he runs a race anything like his last one, he easily soars over this field.  He also owns a 2nd place finish the last time he was on the Santa Anita turf course (4 seconds in 7 starts on this turf course).  Definite must use here.
Longshot of the Day (Race 8): 5 – El Kabeir
-With Runhappy going to be heavily bet, there will be a lot of value on the rest of the field in the Malibu.  With Runhappy going to Laura Wohlers and getting Gary Stevens aboard now, just too many negatives to go with the probably Sprinter of the Year.  El Kabeir ships in to challenge this Grade 1 sprint, coming off of a win in a very tough City of Laurel.  He is only just budding as a sprinter and is sitting off of a very big race.  John Terranova has his horse coming into this race in perfect condition and is poised to bust the bank.

Enjoy Opening Day at Santa Anita! Wish I could be there, but I’ll be at the races at the Meadowlands tonight (look for Meadowlands selections on here later today).
