Summer Stakes Series: Mother Goose Stakes (6/23)

The 2012 Summer Stakes Series begins Saturday with the five horse Mother Goose Stakes at Belmont Park. New York will kick things off in the heat as five brilliant fillies duke it out to take possession of the Three Year Old Filly division.  In the line up are the Kentucky Oaks winner Believe You Can, the Acorn winner Contested, and other major fillies Disposablepleasure, Wildcat’s Smile, and Zo Impressive.  With the injury of John Velazquez, he won’t have a chance to win three straight Mother Goose Stakes, but trainer Todd Pletcher can with his horse Disposablepleasure.  This three year old hasn’t won since the Demoiselle at Aqueduct last November, where she just barely edged out Wildcat’s Smile.  Has come close to winning once again, but since then she has yet to have the same jockey twice.  But now she gets that chance.  Ramon Dominguez, jockey for Disposablepleasure when she won last November, will be on board for the Mother Goose.  The only trouble could be the shortened distance, making here need to have a move early.  But I still like her over the competitors.  She has great speed and closes wonderfully.

My Bet: #3 Disposablepleasure $20 across the board
