Breeders Cup

Early Pick for the Breeders Cup Classic

So, with a week before the Super Bowl of horse racing, most of the horses are up for grabs. Handicapping the race this early is tough, but I figured out my early favorite. Before revealing this information, let me explain how I believe the race will go.

As we start from out of the gate, it will be a tight pack, about two lengths behind Havre de Grace and Stay Thirsty. A length back from them is Uncle Mo. As they go to the first turn, the pack starts to separate, with Headache at the back of the pack. Drosselmeyer starts to look like a contender and our Belmont winner, Ruler on Ice makes a move to the front. As we enter the back stretch, the other horses start to make a move as Havre de Grace gives up the lead to Stay Thirsty with Uncle Mo right behind. However, out of the blue, longshot Ice Box starts to make a move just as they begin going into the far turn. It is a head bob up front and Flat Out pokes his head in, just to make the race to the finish even harder. Stay Thirsty begins to fade. As the horses come down the stretch, Rattlesnake Bridge makes a move similar to him at the Travers. But Ice Box continues on his closing ways. With Uncle Mo and Flat Out trying to hold on, Ice Box comes from on the outside and wins by half a length, followed by Uncle Mo and Flat Out, with Rattlesnake Bridge to finish the superfecta. At something around 40-1, Ice Box shocks the horse racing world, and the cleaning crew at Churchill Downs and tracks across the country will be working extra hard to pick up ripped up tickets.

After reading that big upset predictions, how about me telling what the standings will be.

1) Ice Box, 2) Uncle Mo, 3) Flat Out, 4) Rattlesnake Bridge, 5) Havre de Grace, 6) Stay Thirsty, 7) Drosselmeyer, 8 ) To Honor and Serve, 9) Game on Dude, 10) Prayer for Relief, 11) Ruler on Ice, 12) Headache, 13) So You Think, 14) Await the Dawn, and 15) Gio Ponti.

It is a bold prediction, only time will tell. Then again, this is coming to a guy who picked the Triple Crown races, Haskell, and Jockey Gold Cup all right this year. Only time will tell.
