There hasn’t been a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978. This has been the longest drought in Triple Crown history. In the past we have come close with horses like Big Brown, Funny Cide, Smarty Jones, and War Emblem. However, earlier this year, Rachel Alexandra was in foal to, who else but Curlin. It is rare to find a two horses, male and female, this good as both of them are that are breed together. So why the Next Triple Crown Winner?
Well Curlin has the speed necessary to win the Preakness and Rachel Alexandra has the stamina necessary for the Belmont. The only thing missing is the strength and will to win in order to win the Derby. But don’t fret. For that, you must look back a few generations on both sides as the great Northern Dancer line (Nearco, Nearctic, Northern Dancer). When a horse has this pedigree on both sides, they will have success. The Northern Dancer line is also the most successful line in thoroughbred racing as more Breeders Cup winners have been from that line than any other Pedigree line.
With this pedigree for the “C-Ra” colt, this is definitely a major contender to win the Triple Crown and end the drought, of course we have to wait until 2014 to for the TC and 2013 for its maiden race.
